3v3 Ram Keep Away

Keep away drills are phenomenal environments for players to learn any of the most important principles including possession, passing and handling pressure, feeding 2man actions, picking on and off ball and of course the reads.  In this particular keep away drill, we are working on the Ram Screen concept of an off ball pick before an on ball pick.  It was a way for us to work our 3man side actions in a keep away where we can scale our reps!

It is important to script the defense so the offense will get opportunities to play against different coverages.  We have the defense utilize these coverages:

• Switch
• Stay, pressure over the pick
• Stay, get under the pick
• Double 

Sometimes we confine the space and other times we don't.  The rationale is if we are focusing on possession then we crank up the pressure with confined space and usually double teams.  If we are focussing more on coverage solution in on ball and off ball 2man reads, then we allow the freedom of more space.
