5v5 + Goalie Small Nets
This is truly box on the field and a nice next step from 4v4 + Goalie, where now we can begin to work on our player side actions on and off ball. Remember, the reason we use a small net is a 5v5 game/drill using a 6x6 goal is just too easy to score and therefore the environment doesn't foster team play through ball movement and picking. The smaller net forces players to play in a tight area, so slow down, read the defense, pass, pick and find solutions to the challenge of less space!
Ideal goal size for this would be a 4v4 or an NLL 4'x4'9''.
When you introduce this game here's what to emphasize:
2man side:
3man side:
Ram Screens are picks off ball before picks on ball which create a decision before a decision for the defenders as well as a difficult approach for an on ball defender. Ram Screens are the ultimate way to start your 3 player actions. Just tell your players, pick off ball before you pick on ball.
