Lesson 202:
4v4 Street Box
My passion for lacrosse has only grown since I started playing and implementing these types of pick up games! There are many different varieties with different numbers, goal sizes, all even and uneven games and they are all great!
This particular game simulates the 4v4 and 4v3 Popcorn drills or Pairs offense where we play two 2man games simultaneously, one ball side and one backside. If you watch closely, you will see so many different skills in use.
You will also notice most the girls are using boys sticks. I believe this is an advantage in learning certain skills that are difficult and not common in girls lacrosse and women's lacrosse. Skills such as underhand cradles, passing, shooting, toe drags as well as faking, reaching and screen shots are tougher to learn with a girls stick and tennis ball, but are quite easy with a girls (assuming a decent stick with good hold) stick and lacrosse ball. Simply put, the girls learn how to better leverage "Hold" in their stick.
