4v3 Keep Away Paris is a great way to warm up, create good stick work with context and learn some of the most important skills/concepts of the game. I don't always confine the space for my 4v3 keep away drills.  Sometimes I want the pure pressure confined space creates while other times I want to focus on catching with enough space to practice different approach distances and give the ball carrier space to work on controlling her defender.

  • Communication: who is picking for whom?
  • Square up: the ability to alter the approach of the on ball defender when you receive it, buying time to use a pick.  Arguably the most important skill with the ball!
  • Pick placement: recognizing how the defender is playing the ball, over or under?  Sealing a defender off ball.
  • Head up, seeing the open player on the off ball pick
