We are still quarantined here in Highlands Ranch, Colorado but we’re making the best of it!  Building off the Tight Area 1v1’s from yesterday I wanted to try a 1v2 version.  It’s basically a keep away game and you try to evade the double team for as long as you can.  The agility, footwork, re-dodging, stick work that players are forced to use is awesome!  I think you’ll love this drill!

Rules:
Not full contact, more like basketball defense with stick checking
If it’s too easy for a player to retain the ball, have them use a girls stick (you’ll notice what I mean in the video)

Drill Set up:
-Start in a 1v1 Double Threat set up with a player who will be the Slide/Double Team about 10 yards away
-Confine an area (ours was probably 12 yards by 9 yards)
-Dodge the first defender
-Double team attacks when the dodger attacks
-From here the ball carrier tries to evade the double team for as long as possible

What does this teach?
-Getting a step on your man in with the goal of cutting him/her, which will allow dodger to navigate double team
-How to bounce into space to set up new angles to attack and beat the double team
-How to use double moves (left, right, left or right, left, right to beat the double team)
-These double moves can be done with your feet and your stick
-How to spin, swim move or toe drag through gaps
