Lesson 5:
Traditional Secondary Stance Fundamentals
The Traditional Secondary or "Runner On" Stance needs to be a position that is comfortable, balanced and athletic that puts the catcher in the best possible position to handle anything that occurs when the pitch is thrown (ie. - ball in the dirt, runner stealing, low pitch, etc.).
Keep in mind that a lot of catchers at higher levels (college and above) will utilize a One Knee Set Up even with runners on base. It is an advanced technique that should be reserved for when the catcher has a pitcher that is consistently around the strike zone.
