Lesson 18:
Curveball Blocking
It is important to understand that curve balls typically "kick back" to the throwing arm side of the pitcher so the catcher needs to adjust accordingly. Meaning, they should adjust where they put their body in relation to where the ball is hitting the ground.
Notice in the video that the catcher doesn't go far enough to his left to set up for the amount of kick back resulting in the ball hitting the side of his chest protector and rebounding out to the side. He should have set up farther to his left AND with his left knee slightly in front of his right to better center up the ball and keep it close.
