Thank you for joining my "Be a Wall," online catchers training program focusing on the skill of blocking.  This program will provide you with several tips, drills and exercises all designed to help you or your catcher become the best blocking catcher you can be. 

Blocking is what I call the "difference maker."  What I mean is, everyone thinks they can be a catcher until they need to block.  The beating we take as a catcher, in particular when blocking, separates the "boys from the men."  

Before I get into what is exactly in this program, I want to explain what I mean by "be a wall."  When the pitcher bounces a pitch, I want my catchers to get "big" like a wall.  Nothing gets through or by a wall.  I do NOT mean be "hard" like a wall... I want my catchers BIG like a wall. 

I just want to make sure we're all on the same page because sometimes when I use the term "wall," I get the argument asking why I would want my catchers to be hard and make the ball rebound far away from them.  That is not the case... I want them to be BIG like a wall and SOFT like a pillow when blocking.

The Be a Wall Program is broken down into four sections:

  1. The Stance/Set Up Component: The stance the catcher utilizes will have a huge impact on their blocking success.
  2. The Fundamentals Component:  Movements made before, during and after the blocking of the ball.
  3. The Hip Mobility, Flexibility & Strength Component: The catchers hip mobility, flexibility & strength can have a huge impact on their blocking success.
  4. The Drills Component: Drills that can be utilized to help improve blocking success.
