Lesson 24:
Quadruped (Fire Hydrant) Series
The Quadruped or fire Hydrant Series is a great mobility exercise that has the catchers move their hip joint in every plane of movement and full range of motion.
When done consistently it can greatly improve hip health, strength and mobility. There is also a hip and shoulder stability component.
Make sure the catcher keeps their elbows straight. A common mistake is to collapse on the opposite side elbow which allows them to turn their torso to lift their leg when the movement should be from the hip. We also want them to keep their eyes looking between their hands to help keep their spine in a neutral position.
