Lesson 13:
Short Toss One Knee Lateral Blocks
Although catchers typically set up in a One Knee Stance to prepare to receive, sometimes the pitcher will miss their spot and the catcher will need to block.
A great way to practice blocking from a One Knee Set Up is having the coach or partner simply toss balls in the dirt from approximately 12-15 feet in front of the catcher. Make sure to have the catcher practice blocking to the "knee down side" AND the "knee up side" because both will happen during the game.
The catcher can perform anywhere between 8-15 reps in each direction depending on if they are warming up or actually working out.
