Lesson 12:
Cross-Court Backhand and Inside-Out Forehand
The ball machine will send the balls to one spot (to player’s backhand side), the player will hit one cross-court backhand groundstroke and then move in position for an inside-out forehand groundstroke.
Practice good footwork, early preparation, consistency, and ball placement.
Technical aspects to follow:
- early preparation,
- low stance,
- constant movement of the feet,
- grip: semi-western for forehand, eastern backhand for the one-handed backhand.
As an alternative, you can practice inside-in forehand (hitting down-the-line) and backhand down-the-line as well.
Secret: Get the racquet set behind the path of the incoming ball before it bounces on your side.
