Lesson 8:
Forehand Volley | Technique, Placement
This drill helps develop good forehand volley technique, placement, and consistency.
Technical elements to follow:
- continental/hammer grip,
- prepare the racquet head higher than the eventual point of contact,
- keep both hands close,
- as little backswing as possible,
- at contact, the racquet should be moving from high to low to create slice/under-spin,
- bring the racquet to a stop right after the contact,
- keep a 90-degree angle between the forearm and racquet.
The slice/under-spin keeps the ball low after the bounce.
Secret: Lock the wrist and attack the ball with the lowest half of the racquet face - cleaner contact as you brush down on the ball.
