Lesson 39:
Game of Seven
This is a great game for practicing groundstrokes, approach shots, and volleys - transitioning from baseline to the net.
The ball machine will feed balls to my right (forehand), first; I will practice series of 7 balls as follows:
- 3 balls from the baseline (forehand groundstrokes)
- 1 approach shot (which I will take right off the bounce)
- 3 volleys (forehand)
Since this is a game, every time I hit a series of 7 balls in, I get a point: 15; the second time I do that, I will get 30, and so on until I win a game.
But in the same time, I can lose points because every shot I miss, will cost me a point (15, 30, 40, game).
So I can either win or lose a game depending on how consistent I am with my shots.
After playing a game on the forehand side, switch the direction of the ball machine to play the same on the backhand side.
Continue alternating playing a game on the forehand, then on the backhand side until you either win or lose a set.
