Lesson 10:
Forehand and Backhand Volley | Alternate
For this drill, set the ball machine to feed right down the middle of the court; alternate between hitting a forehand volley and a backhand volley; focus on footwork and early preparation.
Technical elements to follow:
- continental/hammer grip;
- 90-degree angle between forearm and racquet;
- racquet head should be set higher than the shoulder (or eventual point of contact);
- short or no backswing and follow-through;
- punch the ball from high to low to create slice/under-spin;
- constant footwork for an excellent work-out.
Secret: Set the racquet head high, and keep it in front of the line of shoulders (no/little backswing).
