Lesson 59:
Fifty
"Fifty" is one of our most popular tennis games for beginning and intermediate level players - rally consistency under pressure.
Two (or four) players begin from the baseline, opposite sides.
The coach can put the ball in play, or either one of the players can do it.
A third person (such as a coach) can assist in this drill.
Once the ball is put in play, the coach counts how many times the ball travels over the net during the rally. Whoever wins the rally, gets a number of points equal with how many times the ball traveled over the net.
Example: If the players had a rally where the ball passed the net 12 times, the winner gets 12 points.
The game continues with players winning and adding up the points until one of them accumulates 50 points.
Players change sides after 25 points.
The game can also be played first to 100 points, depending on how much time it is available.
