Lesson 11:
Five-Ball Race
For this drill, the coach (or player) will line up 5 balls, each on a specific court line:
- 1 on the closest doubles side line
- 1 on the closest singles side line
- 1 on the center line
- 1 on the far singles side line
- 1 on the far doubles side line
At the command, the player must run and pick up the balls one by one and place them on her racquet (which is on the ground, about 3 feet from the first ball in line).
The sprinting, bending the legs to pick up / put down the balls, and change of direction are great for developing strong legs, dynamic balance; and get a good workout as well.
