Lesson 44:
Plus 5 / Minus 5
This is an excellent serve drill that encourages player to stay focused on being consistent and rewards her with points. But in the same time it puts pressure on the player because for every serve that she misses, she will lose a point.
So she will get a +1 for every ball in, and a -1 for a miss.
The player's goal will be to reach +5 and avoid -5.
For the purpose of using good technique and avoid just pushing the ball in, the player will be required to also hit the ball hard - in this case (smaller child) the coach asks the player to hit the ball so that it bounces no more than 4 times before reaching the back fence, but, for bigger and stronger players, they can be required 2 or 3 bounces only.
