Lesson 9:
Spider Web
The Spider Web is one of our favorite drills for leg strength, balance, and speed.
It can be done by beginning players as well as advanced ones.
The player begins from behind the baseline center and will shuffle sideways to the singles sideline (right), then to the other singles sideline (left); gets back to the center. From here she will sprint to the right corner of service court, then backpedal back to the center baseline.
Sprint to the service line center and backpedal back.
Sprint to the left corner of service court; backpedal to the baseline center.
Repeat this drill 2-3 times at high intensity.
The coach can time the player or give her a time limit she should be executing this exercise.
