  • Lesson 41:
    Pre-Serve Throw

     view description
    • This is a drill that should be executed as a warm-up before the serve practice or learning it.

The player takes up a position at the service line, holding a ball in the dominant hand.
She will pretend to toss a ball with her non-dominant hand, then keep the arm extended towards the sky.
Her dominant arm will form an L-shape (between the upper arm and forearm).
She will throw the ball pretending to make it go over the fingers of the non-dominant hand.

This drill teaches players that the serve is a throwing motion that should be executed sending the ball upwards, not forward.
