Lesson 57:
Quick Recovery Drill
"Quick Recovery" is an excellent drill to encourage players to use quick footwork when practicing their groundstrokes.
The coach will feed 7 balls to each player who will begin the drill from behind the baseline center.
After each shot, the player must quickly get back behind the baseline center before the ball bounces on the other side.
Do this drill on both forehand and backhand sides.
Keep in mind that this drill is designed for beginning or intermediate level players in order to promote quick court movement but it does not emphasize proper court coverage which means recovering to a spot that should be in the middle of the opponent's possible angles (which are discussed in the Training section of WebTennis24).
