Lesson 19:
1. Timing of the Footwork
When the pitch location allows, the catcher should start to shift their weight prior to receiving the pitch to start the footwork process and getting around the ball. We call it a pre-catch shift. This early shift will give the catcher a "head start" on the footwork and has the potential to greatly reduce their release time and overall pop time.
