A great drill that puts together the main strokes that teach players to move from baseline to the net.
The coach (F) is just inside the baseline, having a basket of balls to feed from; the player (A) begins the drill at the baseline, opposite side from the coach (see graphic below).
The player practices as follows:
– one forehand groundstroke (1)
– one backhand groundstroke (2)
– one short ball approach (3)
– four volleys (4, 5, 6, 7)
– one overhead (8)
– two volleys (9, 10)
– one overhead (11).
Variation:
The last ball (the eleventh / the overhead) can be played out between the coach and the player.
