The coach (F) is just behind the service line having a basket of balls to feed from. Two players are at the net (A and B) on the same side with the coach.
On the other side, at the baseline, there are two lines of players, the first player in each line ready to receive the coach’s feed.
Drill:
The coach will feed a ball to each player in line. The baseline players will each play the point out only on the half court and against the player at the net on the same half of the court (in this example A plays C, B against D) – no lobs allowed.
Once either rally is over, the net player will run to the end of the line that is on the other half of which he/she just played while the baseline player will take the remaining spot at the net.
The coach will feed the ball only to the first baseline players as soon as they are ready.
Note:
Players keep playing (baseline vs. net) on half courts for as long as they enjoy the drill – they switch from baseline to net and net to baseline after every point played.
This drill is good for cardio tennis practice to keep all players moving and getting a good exercise.
