There are three players: A (covering the singles court) vs. B-C (covering the doubles court) – all begin at the baseline (opposite sides). The coach is outside of the doubles alley, close to the net, and on team B-C’s side of the court (see graphic below).
Drill:
The coach will begin every point by feeding the ball so that the first bounce will be on the same side of the net then the ball should land as a short drop on player A’s side.
Player A moves up to get the ball while team B-C steps inside the baseline ready to react.
The point is played out then players move back to the baseline to start another one.
First to win 5 points then rotate players one spot clockwise.
Note:
The purpose of this drill is to teach players to work as a team, communicate, or learn to anticipate the next shots.
