This drill requires to have at least 4 players on the court – best for large groups.
Drill:
It begins with 4 players positioned in two one-up-one-back formation teams (A at the baseline, B at the net, C at the opposite side baseline, and her partner D at the net) – see graphic below.
The rest of the players (E, G, H) wait for their turn.
The coach (F) puts the ball in play feeding it to player A; teams play the point out. When the point is over, every player switches the place moving one spot clockwise, having a new player take A’s position at the baseline, player A taking B’s place, B moves to C’s spot, and so on.
As soon as everyone gets to play at least 3 times on every position (3 rotations), the game ends.
Note:
Through this drill, players experiment with playing doubles on different positions (baseline, net, facing the sun, etc.) which could be fun and challenging.
