The player (A) is just behind the baseline, and the coach (F) is behind the service line having a basket of balls to feed from; the two face each other. A cone is placed inside the baseline and in front of the player. (see graphic below)
Drill:
The coach feeds balls side to side (short) for the player to move up (inside the baseline) -> execute a groundstroke (forehand/backhand) -> recover behind the cone before moving to the next ball.
The player should hit about 10-16 shots before taking a break.
Next player (cardio/group classes) in line takes his turn.
Note:
Considered one of the best movement and conditioning exercises, the V-Drill is recommended for all levels of play.
During cardio classes, the other players should perform various exercises (jump rope, jumping jacks, ladder drills etc.) while waiting for their turn.
