The player (A) is inside the baseline, and the coach (F) is behind the service line having a basket of balls to feed from; the two face each other. A cone is placed inside the baseline and behind the player. (see graphic below)
Drill:
The coach feeds balls side to side (deep) for the player to move back (behind the baseline) -> execute a groundstroke (forehand/backhand) -> recover in front of the cone before moving back for the next ball.
The player should hit about 10 – 16 shots before taking a break.
Next player in line (cardio/groups) takes his turn.
During cardio classes, the players waiting for their turn should perform various exercises: jump rope, jumping jacks, ladder drills etc.
Note:
Considered one of the best movement and conditioning exercises, the V-Drill is recommended for all levels of play.
