There are two players: A and B, both begin from the baseline, opposite sides.

Player A has a bunch of balls nearby and she begins every point by feeding a high ball over the net into player B’s side.

B will have to play the ball only after it bounces.

Tactic:

After player A feeds the high ball she’ll have to move up to the net taking into consideration the following:

– player B can back up and let the ball drop, which gives A more time to set at the net; also more time to prepare her volleys considering the bigger distance created when player B decides to back-up.

– player B could take the ball on the rise (riskier option) – player A has less time to set up at the net and as a result might have to deal with low volleys.

Either of the two options will give both players a chance to practice this interesting situation and come up with solutions that are going to be valuable in future matches.

The game can be played competitively until one of the players wins 7 points, then switch sides (and roles).
