The following games are played only on half courts as follows:
Game 1:
Both players, A and B, begin at the baseline, deuce side, opposite sides. They are allowed to hit only cross-court inside the deuce half courts: between baseline – net – singles sideline – center line (+ the imaginary extension of the center line); see graphic below.
Every point begins with a serve; each player takes turns serving one point, alternating.
Once the ball is put in play with a serve (two tries) the players rally hitting the ball only inside the half-court cross-court.
The second important aspect of this game is the fact that the rally should be done using only forehand groundstrokes/volleys. If a player hits the ball using their backhand side they automatically lose that point.
Play first to win 7 points then switch to the other half…
Game 2:
Play just like the above-mentioned game using the ad half courts, cross-court and hitting only backhand groundstrokes after the ball is put in play with a serve.
Game 3 and 4:
The same concept will be applied for playing down-the-line using half courts where one of the players hits only forehand ground-strokes (if playing on the deuce side) or backhand ground-strokes (if playing on the ad side).
Note:
This game challenges players to be consistent with their groundstrokes – excellent for developing rally patience, racquet and ball control, and arm strength.
