This is a great drill for large groups of players to practice serving and volley.
Players are lined up behind the baseline, each having a ball ready to serve. The coach is just behind the service line, opposite side, having a basket of balls nearby.
Drill:
The first player in line will serve and move up towards the net. As the player approaches the net, the coach will feed two balls for the player to volley. The two balls can be sent by the coach either one to the forehand and one to the backhand or to one side only.
The player will then jog around the net post and get a ball off the ground from the coach’s side before going back in line.
The next player will do the same: serve and move up to the net for two volleys.
The coach gives instructions regarding footwork and volley technique.
Note:
This is a good drill to keep large groups of players active and reduce the waiting in line by moving the players through the drill at a fast pace.
