This is a drill that a coach can apply when working with one player as well as a large group (in the latter the players form two lines having first ones come up).
The coach (F) is inside the baseline having a basket of balls to feed from. The player(s) begins this drill at the baseline (if there are two players or more line them up behind the baseline – one on the deuce and one on the ad side), opposite side from the coach.
Drill:
The coach will alternate feed – one ball short followed by a deep (and high) one. The players will move up to hit the short ball then back up for the deep one, and so forth.
For every ball in, the players will count it as 1, 2, 3 etc. When one of the players hits 10 balls in, the next two in line will take their place.
Note:
Great drill for conditioning, movement (run and stop) and consistency.
