Three cones are placed about 3 feet apart along and on the baseline, deuce side only.
The player (A) begins behind the first cone (close to the baseline center).
The coach (F) who is inside the ad service box, the same side of the net, feeds balls to the player’s backhand side:
– The player practices backhand groundstrokes circling the first cone after the first shot, the second cone (further) after the second shot, then the third cone (furthest) after the third shot; repeat this cycle at least 3 times before the player takes a 30-second break.
If more than one player is present, they take turns after each 3 ball cycle. The players waiting can perform various exercises: jumping jacks, jump rope, ladder drills, etc.
Note:
This drill can be done with the player practicing forehand groundstrokes by placing the three cones on the baseline ad side.
